On Saturday night the Book Bash will play host to the legendary Delia Smith — ahead of the publication of her new book US: Nine Ingredients to Change Our World.

Delia has had a remarkable, vibrant and varied career — from becoming the nation’s saviour in the kitchen (eliminating the fear of cookery for millions) to her appointment as the Honorary Life President of Norwich City Football Club.

Now she is hoping to inspire change of another sort. In her short, powerful new book, Delia shares lessons from her long and eventful life — introducing us along the way to some of the greatest political thinkers, past and present. Delia contemplates how goodness and kindness are eclipsed by oppression and confusion — and suggests that true politics can only come from the people.

With a foreword from artist and political activist Brian Eno, and an afterword from the leader of The Global Citizens’ Assembly movement, Delia’s collection of nine essays will challenge the way you think about our future.

Delia will be in conversation with Henry Layte, owner of the Book Hive.

• Please bring your ticket on the day. When you arrive at Mannington Hall, you’ll enter the grounds, where you’ll be asked to show your ticket. You’ll be given a coloured wristband that will give you access to what you’ve bought.
